Massachusetts has one of the highest income disparities in the country. This means that there is a greater gap between the rich and the poor. The Attleboro Area Council of Churches is working to bridge that gap through our food programs. We began a Breakfast Program for families and individuals in the Attleboro area in 2006. The program is funded in part through a Community Investment Grant from the United Way of Greater Attleboro/ Taunton.
The Breakfast Program began with 15 people and has grown to currently serve 130 people. The packages which consist of nutritious food such as cereal, juice, milk and fruit are delivered each Thursday. Our food costs have risen since 2007 and donations of gift cards and food items are always appreciated.
