Attleboro Area Council of ChurchesThe Attleboro Area Council of Churches was founded on May 8, 1946 with nineteen churches as charter members including eleven from Attleboro, and the YMCA. Today participating members have grown to include over 35 churches of various denominations and a synagogue, servicing 13 towns in the Attleboro area (Attleboro, North Attleboro, Norton, Rehoboth, Taunton, Mansfield, Foxboro, Plainville, Walpole, Seekonk, Easton ,Norfolk, and Wrentham).

For 23 years, the Masonic Temple in Attleboro served as the first “home” for the council offices.  In 1970, the offices were moved to Murray Universalist Church ,Attleboro. In 2002 the offices were located at 7 North Main St in Attleboro. Today the Attleboro Area Council of Churches is located at 95 Pine Street, Attleboro, in the old Richardson School.

We now have 5 different programs operating under the auspices of the Attleboro Area Council of Churches including, Food n’ Friends Kitchens, the Breakfast Program, Homes With Heart, the Chaplaincy Program at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, and Elder Ministries.

We continue to sponsor annual ecumenical and interfaith gatherings including Holy Week Services and an Easter Sunrise Service.

We partner with the United way, the Lenny Zakim Fund and other service agencies to provide basic needs and services to the communities of Attleboro, North Attleboro, Norton, Rehoboth, Mansfield and Seekonk. This includes assistance with rent, transportation, moving expense, clothes replacement, utilities and medical bills.

We continue to keep our mission statement alive:

“Doing Together What One Cannot Do Alone.”
